What is Tailwind CSS?

In order to make it quicker and simpler for users to construct applications, Tailwind CSS is a utility-first CSS framework. Without leaving your HTML or creating a single line of new CSS, you can use utility classes to adjust the layout, color, spacing, font, shadows, and more to create a completely unique component design.

By directly applying pre-existing classes to items in your HTML, Tailwind allows you to style them. This method of employing utility classes allows you to create customized designs without coding CSS.

You would have to continue coding CSS as you added more features and components if there wasn’t a framework like Tailwind. As a result, your CSS files keep expanding and getting bigger. The majority of styles are reusable thanks to tools like Tailwind’s flex-box and padding utilities, so you barely ever need to create new CSS.

You choose classes in Tailwind from a pre-established design structure. This removes the need for you to stress over selecting the “correct” class names for particular styles and components or to remember difficult ones like sidebar-inner-wrapper.

Tailwind is a low-level framework. Meaning that Tailwind doesn’t provide fully styled elements like buttons, dropdowns, and navbars as other CSS frameworks like Bootstrap and Materialize do. Instead, it provides utility classes that let you design your own reusable components.

Given this, compared to other CSS frameworks, it allows far more flexibility and control over the appearance of your application. As a result, your website could be more unique.
