How to build a Socially Engaging Brand

Without an epitome of doubt, it wasn’t too surprising that the recognition for the most socially engaged brand on LinkedIn went to Hays, The Recruiting Experts. So, I was very excited about this recognition and I still can’t place why I was excited about the recognition of this brand as being socially engaging.

Most times, I like to think it was because they stood out from what other recruiting firms were doing online.

In essence, here is what I think Hays did right to earn this recognition:

Lesson Learnt: Dear Brand Managers who are looking to earn this recognition as the most socially engaging brand in 2017, resist the strong urge to be everywhere, on every social media. Choose a channel that directly matches your value proposition and OWN it! Yes, it could be just LinkedIn or Facebook or just Instagram. It could all three of them, sometimes. The key is to know that it directly matches your value propositions and own it!

2. Consumer Insights: I feel like this should be the number one point. However, this is really important too because no matter what service you are rendering, your market consists of 100 per cent humans and your consumers are everything. The key is to know that thing about them that will make them love you.

What Hays did right: For a recruiting firm, they knew that there target market will mostly consist of job seekers, people looking to change jobs, etc. So, they asked themselves the most critical questions you ask when trying to position your brand:

3. Content!: Nope, this can never be over-emphasized! It is only when you know how to reach your consumers, then, do you know what kind of content to feed them with that will make them keep coming back for more.

What Hays did right: And this is my very best. Hays created tailored content specifically written by people working in Hays, from the CEO, to the Recruitment Manager, nobody was left out. Blog contents were then published on the firm’s LinkedIn Page. Brilliant, huh?
