A Simple Approach to Accomplishing Anything in Life

The power of taking little steps to achieve your goals

Breaking a goal into little steps could be the answer to accomplishing anything.

Not all accomplishments have to be grand, just like each little step taken.

The mindset of taking little steps to achieve goals, to make lasting habits or to change your life could be what you need to achieve what’s left on your to-do list.

When you woke up this morning, you may have had a morning routine. In that routine, you may have had the following little steps:

As you can see, you have unknowingly been taking little steps to accomplish something everyday — the formation of a habit: your morning routine. You could easily say that the above steps could be further broken down into mini ones, too.

Not only does breaking down your goals into little steps make their accomplishment easier for you, ticking off one little step gives you a sense of satisfaction and motivates you to continue your streak and ultimately achieve whatever you want.

For someone to start a business, they could first read one article about how to start one. They could then join one Facebook group full of business owners to ask advice from or send one message to one friend who already owns a business. One is the keyword here.

Think about the goals you have set for yourself. They could be health, personal finance or career related. Whatever they are, there are a set of little steps that you can take to make their accomplishment manageable and achievable.

The accomplishments of “successful” began from taking little steps to reaching a big goal. These little steps might not be what you think. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s first little step could simply have been to decide to work for himself. One of Alibaba founder Jack Ma’s first little steps could have been to simply ask one friend about his business idea.

To show people you love that you care (which may not be as grand of an accomplishment as starting a business but is still a way of nourishing a relationship, which may be a relationship goal of yours), a little step you could take is to help them with chores, give them a massage, make them a small gift, buy them food, tell them how much you appreciate them or just say thank you to them for being in your life.

If your goal is to write a book within 30 days, your one small step could be to write 100 words in the next hour. Or your next few small steps could be to get out your laptop, open your favourite writing app and start typing everything you’re thinking, without judging yourself.

This helps with dealing with overwhelm and helps you focus on what’s most important — the little things you can do right now that’ll ultimately make the biggest contributions to achieving your goals if you do them consistently.

I hope this served as a reminder to recognise how the power of taking little steps can help you lead a more productive life.

What is one little step/task/action that you can take right now that’ll contribute to you accomplishing your goals?

Keep it simple, think small.

Sending positive energy to you,

All my love,
