Feminism in the Era!

Even though I myself like to claim I am a staunch Feminist However, the wave of feminism has somehow managed to disturb the aura I have self-composed through a strong sense of understanding;of an existing turbulence in the life of women, due to various other existent factors.

It is true that Women have been subjugated, objectified and feasted upon by the gaze of a Phallocentric set up that has throughout the times denied them an equal status, but the thing which has managed to seize my vision are the consequences, that have stemmed out of the overpowering or rather the construction of the term “Feminism”

As per as my understanding goes, the term Feminism got constructed in the light, to not only safeguard the rights of women, but also provide them an equal pedestal in a scenario,to most importantly have an Opinion with a Vagina.

However, it is immensely disturbing to see, how something so classified has gulped the exact motto of the construction and reduced Feminism to a mere body of giving women an upper hand over another lot.

The wave that feminism has introduced has got so polluted with a fallacy of succeeding at the cost of the First sex, that the whole motive behind the boosting up of this wave seems to have become futile.

The irrelevant race of competition and moreover the blame game that has come as an evident part of Feminism, has given way to inevitable debates, differences and a sense of discovery of self-worth.

So, such treatment of Feminism has opened feminism for two perspectives:

The first being either overpowering women so strongly that even if the first sex gets Sidelined,by triumphing the women power,it hardly makes any difference. And the second being; Framing the psyche of women so fragile that, the route cause of everything sticks with feminism and they start acting paranoid,by going gaga over the fact that, because of the lacking Penis/Phallus, they have been denied a lot through the ages.

However, when I speculate the whole topic with an outer gaze, I am not amused to realize that the efforts of John Stuart Mill,Juliet Mitchell, Elaine Showalter or who so ever has claimed to be a Feminazi and worked towards establishing an environment of utter equality has deferred from the current aspect of the Scenario.

True enough, the Subjugation, suffering plight and pain have been carved in words and made to come evident in order to make the society aware of how women lack a room of their own, However, the Intention has never been to channelize the subdued passive aggression into a full fledged debate or scuffle where again the society comes round to inequality.

However, this attempt of mine is also not to push back the injustice that has always fallen on the parts of women, and out of the hundreds of cases that exist and also those which at times are silenced.

Quite obviously we can’t shut our eyes and sit back to the cases which are not even pin pointed by the Indian media,(on account of lacking glamour quotient as high as the death or wedding of Bollywood celebs),as happened in the case of fifth rape and acid attack survivor from Uttar Pradesh,or the one we all know The Nirbhaya’s but we can also, not completely rely on something as vague as the brownie points the fair sex have earned on accounts of just being women.

It is a matter of utter shame that the laws that had been formed to protect them from the inequality, brutality and beastiality have been reframed according to their convience and also many a times moulded by false complaints, to make the most of the helpless situations it creates.

It does not amuse me any longer that precisely a year or two ago, when a girl student of a very prestigious college, alleged a bike rider of molesting her at a traffic signal the whole of media along with the CM of Delhi went crazy, congratulating, thanking and appreciating her for her bravery without even taking the pain of getting to the root level of the truth.

Within some hours the reputation of Sarvjeet Singh got Maligned and the Nation got a new woman idol at the cost of ruining someone’s hard - earned name

Hence,I personally feel that, while, it is completely fair to fight for the rights of women or to raise voice against the wrong,It is equally not ok, for one to take things for granted and indulge into something that emerges as unacceptable;either morally or actually.

The rights of women should be safeguarded but at the same time it should be ensured that, equality prevails in every aspect for the better functioning of the society.Perhaps then can we one day claim we are at the same pedestal and in a Utopian state with respect to Gender.
